This training session will introduce you to several library e-resources that may be useful to you in your daily work or study as a pharmacist or pharmacy technician.

·       BMJ Best Practice allows you to browse by topic or specialty to easily navigate to sections on condition management, as well as providing up-to-date evidence.

·       NICE Guidance and Clinical Knowledge Summaries provide overviews and recommendations for assessing and managing conditions.

·       The British National Formulary (BNF) and BNF for Children aims to provide prescribers, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals with sound up-to-date information about the use of medicines. Browse medicines using the A-Z list, which includes sections on drug interactions.

·       Maudsley Prescribing Guidelines in Psychiatry (14th ed.) – online access to the full-text evidence-based handbook on the safe and effective prescribing of psychotropic agents.

·       Electronic Medicines Compendium (emc) – contains up to date, easily accessible information about medicines licensed for use in the UK.

This session will show you how to access these resources through OpenAthens using the NHS Knowledge & Library Hub as your gateway, and then go on to demonstrate how to navigate and make use of each resource. Each resource can support clinical decision-making or to find current evidence quickly and efficiently.

The session will be led by Chloe Turner, the new Primary Care Librarian for Derbyshire. The session will last around 30 minutes with the remaining 15 minutes allocated for questions.
